Several charged for threats, behavior

Ernest W. McWilliams, 53, of 628 Cook Ave., was charged Thursday with menacing and disorderly conduct.

Around 10:45 a.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to 625 Albert St. residence and spoke with William Yuretich who was at the residence with a crew to clean it up.

Yuretich said the suspect had been harassing them for two days and threatened to harm Yuretich. As the officer was talking with Yuretich, McWilliams began to yell and curse at the officer telling him to move his cruiser.

The officer tried to get McWilliams side of the events and he was belligerent.

He was arrested for his conduct and for threatening Yuretich.

McWilliams was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Courtney S. Weatherspoon, 41, of 868 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 224, was charged Wednesday with public intoxication after she made alarming claims that she was a victim of crime at Speedway, 600 E. Sandusky Ave., around 11 p.m.

When found exiting a white pickup truck outside her residence, she at first denied making the comments, but then admitted she did. She was charged due to her heavily intoxicated state and allowed to enter her residence.

• George M. Briggs, 47, of 409 Walker St., was charged Thursday with aggravated menacing after he allegedly threatened to kill staff in the emergency room department of Mary Rutan Hospital.

He admitted as much to officers, telling them he was about to be evicted and had been drinking heavily.

He was referred to Consolidated Care for a mental health evaluation.

• Brook Ann Lee Steenman, 25, of Coldwater, Mich., was charged with persistent disorderly conduct Thursday. She was driven to MRH by a friend who was concerned about her mental health.

She agreed to check herself in at the hospital but soon became uncooperative with staff. She refused to quit yelling and follow instructions.

She was arrested and lodged in jail.
