Carmelita T. Haithcock, 45, of Springfield, was charged Wednesday with felonious assault.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to 425 W. Brown Ave. around 5:45 p.m. and found her boyfriend Tory Johnson bleeding heavily from his upper left arm.
Haithcock was found on the porch of the residence and there was blood on the floor just inside the front door.
Johnson told officers Haithcock cut him with a knife before he was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Haithcock denied stabbing, reportedly telling an officer, “Personally, I want to stab him. But guess what? If I stabbed him, it wouldn’t be in his arm. He wouldn’t be alive right now if I stabbed him.”
Officers sealed off the house, front yard and street to protect the scene and obtained permission to search it from Haithcock’s daughter who resides there.
Inside they collected multiple pieces of blood-stained evidence.
Haithcock was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
