A Westerville man riding with a group of more than a dozen bicyclists escaped serious injury Saturday afternoon when his bike was struck after traveling into the path of a car on State Route 47 at Township Road 31.
Paul Kulik, 70, was southbound on T.R. 31 about 1:45 p.m. with about half of the cyclists, when he attempted to cross the intersection and was struck by a westbound 2019 Honda Accord, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff's Office said.
Kulik, who was cited for failure to yield, reportedly misinterpreted a signal from one of the other riders who had already crossed the road and proceeded into the intersection.
The man was treated for minor injuries by a Bellefontaine squad at the scene and continued his bike ride.
The Honda's driver, Trisha Engle, 43, of Bellefontaine, was not injured.
There was minor damage to the passenger-side of the car.
