John K. Guider, 56, of 3780 Bruce St., Bellefontaine, was charged with criminal damaging and persistent disorderly conduct and was cited for placing injurious materials on the roadway related to an incident Thursday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Sunrise Estates off County Road 29 about 2 p.m. in reference to a resident reporting that Guider had caused damage with a tractor and blade to the 1700 block of High Street in Sunrise Estates.
Resident Joe Marcinko provided deputies with a video of the defendant driving the tractor from Guider’s property to High Street. The video showed the tractor operator drop the blade and then spread mud in the road in front of the Marcinko residence, 1768 High St.
Deputies were in contact with Jefferson Township trustees, who confirmed they had not given Guider permission to perform work in the right of way in the road. The trustees also reported they had been contacted by Ohio Department of Agriculture officials, who said Guider had sprayed some sort of chemical along the road’s edge, causing grass to die around the cul-de-sac and along two neighboring properties.
The defendant was located at his residence and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
