Mark W. Jarrell, 20, of Marysville, died en route to Mary Rutan Hospital by Perry Township EMS following the 3 p.m. crash, deputies report.

The driver of the SUV, Tiffany R. Dewitt, 24, of West Mansfield, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies report Dewitt was operating the northbound SUV on C.R. 55 and stopped at the intersection of C.R. 10. She then failed to yield to the eastbound motorcycle operated by Jarrell and drove into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the SUV and came to rest in the intersection. The operator was thrown from the motorcycle and he was wearing a helmet, deputies said.

The SUV continued to drive forward and parked on the side of T.R. 55 just north of County Road 10.

Dewitt was wearing a seat belt. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as factors in the crash. Deputies continued to investigate, and no charges have yet been issued.

Damage was heavy to the motorcycle and moderate to the SUV.

Macochee EMS also responded to the scene.

It is the second fatal crash this year in Logan County. The first crash claimed three lives.
