BellefontainePolice Patch

Marsha D. Meldau, 54, of 4000 Alpine Parkway, Lot A1, Valley Hi, was charged Sunday with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She was cited for a stop sign violation, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.

She was driving a sport utility vehicle eastbound on Columbus Avenue and failed to come to a complete stop at Hayes Street. A stop was initiated on Columbus.

Officers detected an odor of alcohol upon talking with her. She was unsteady on her feet upon exiting the SUV and field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired by alcohol.

She failed to provide a breathalyzer sample and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Stacy R. Shirk, 62, of 1126 Allison Road, was charged Saturday with OVI and cited for failure to control, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of a crash after a single-vehicle crash on Township Road 217 at Main Street.

Shirk was westbound at 6 p.m. and went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail at the intersection.

He sustained possible injuries but was not transported for treatment.

Witnesses reported Shirk got out of the SUV and walked away. Officers arrived on scene and observed him stumbling down a westbound ramp from U.S. Route 33 to Main Street.

Officers drove onto the ramp and stopped him, noting he was bleeding from the mouth.

He refused to take any sobriety tests and he was taken into custody.

A Bellefontaine squad responded and evaluated Shirk’s injuries, noting he sustained a small cut inside his mouth.

Shirk, who has a previous OVI conviction, was lodged in jail.
