Suspect lodged for criminal trespass, falsification

Levi A. Smith, 18, of North Lewisburg, was charged with criminal trespass, criminal damaging and falsification related to an incident Sunday in Middleburg.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 5:20 p.m. to 10411 Water St., Middleburg, in reference to a vandalism complaint.

They spoke with Halie Boerger of Marysville, who stated her vehicle had been parked at her friend’s residence overnight and that she discovered in the morning all four tires of her vehicle had been flattened. Deputies reviewed video surveillance from a neighboring property and determined a vehicle belonging to her ex-boyfriend, Smith, had been at the scene.

Smith at first provided deputies with a written statement denying allegations he was involved with the incident. However, deputies later that evening received a call from the defendant, and he stated that he wanted to take back what he said, stating that he had “knowingly flattened the tires on his ex-girlfriend’s car.”

Derek C. Bruce, 17, of Cable, also was issued a summons for criminal mischief for his involvement in the incident.

Smith was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
