Death investigated near East Liberty

LoCoSheriff DoddsCarStar

Deputies and Allen Township EMS responded at 4:06 p.m. Saturday to 12145 Darby Creek Drive, East Liberty, on a report of an unresponsive 56-year-old woman who had fallen down the stairs.

Live-saving measures had been performed on Monika Paulson, 56, by her husband and then by first responders who arrived at the scene. Mrs. Paulson was transported by squad to Memorial Hospital in Marysville, where she was pronounced dead.

Deputies spoke with her husband, who reported that he heard a thud while he was working in his office upstairs and when he went to investigate, he found his wife lying at the bottom of the stairs. He began CPR at that time, he said.

Mr. Paulson told deputies that his wife had health issues, including low blood pressure, and hadn’t been feeling well that day.

Investigation continues, with the Union County Coroner’s Office also investigating and a potential autopsy to be conducted.
