Crystal D. Stevens, 25, of 750 Arlington Road, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and received a summons for endangering children as a result of an incident Monday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 7:40 p.m. in the area of State Route 117 near Huntsville observed a reckless driver report and located the vehicle, noticing several marked lanes violations. A traffic stop was initiated on S.R. 117 at County Road 96.
The driver, Stevens, told deputies that she had been weaving in the roadway because she was attending to her daughter in the back seat. However, deputies observed that her speech was slurred and said her eyes were glassy and her pupils were pinpoint.
Field sobriety tests were conducted and she was placed under arrest. Deputies said the child became very upset about not being able to see her mother, and the child was placed in a child safety seat in the rear of the patrol car with her mother.
Deputies transported the woman and the child to the sheriff’s office, where a family member responded to pick up the child.
At the Logan County Jail, Stevens submitted to a urine test, with test results pending. She also was cited for an expired driver’s license and a marked lanes violation.
