Dilys Ann Janes, 31, of 600 Florence Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with child endangering and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a crash Sunday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a southbound station wagon on Township Road 216 about 9:20 a.m. when her vehicle struck the rear of a southbound car operated by Lori A. Legge, 48, of Bellefontaine, that was stopped at the stop sign at County Road 11.
Bellefontaine EMS also responded to the scene, and checked the occupants at the scene. Janes had a 3-year-old passenger in her vehicle, who was restrained in a child safety seat. No damage was reported to either vehicle.
While speaking with Janes, deputies observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from her vehicle. She told deputies that she had been drinking earlier that morning, but had stopped drinking at 3 a.m.
She refused to submit to field sobriety tests, and was transported to the jail, where she tested 0.297 blood alcohol content. She also was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
