An effort to raise $25,000 for paving the Simon Kenton Bike Path has reached $30,000 and the volunteers behind the project hope people keep on giving.
The $25,000 mark was the targeted goal for Nov. 30 to qualify for a matching grant from Honda of America Foundation. That goal was hit Nov. 15.
With this campaign’s donations and the grant, the Simon Kenton Pathfinders will have $55,000 for paving part of the remaining gravel section between Urbana and Bellefontaine.
There is about seven miles left. It estimated the non-profit organization will have to raise another $122,000 to complete all the paving.
All money donated to the Pathfinders is used for paving at this time.
