A Dublin-based architectural firm with experience designing agricultural buildings has been brought in to draw up blueprints for the new show arena being planned at the Logan County Fairgrounds.
Alliance Design Group was approved Wednesday in a regular fair board meeting to design a new show arena on the fairgrounds. The contract is for $2,600.
The Logan County Commissioners are paying for the services.
The structure will be about 12,000-square feet, measuring 100- by-120, fair board president Christie Barns said today.
Hasan Reza is the architect responsible for designing the new show arena. He also provided architectural services for a similar building on the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.
Commissioners recommended Reza to the fair board following a meeting with Auglaize County commissioners to tour the building there.
The fair board intends to complete the project in phases. A first phase calls for erecting the larger structure, and adding amenities later.
A one-time allocation of $100,000 from the Logan County Commission has jump started the initiative. The fair board has another $25,000 in grant money to utilize toward the project.
An active fundraising campaign is also being staged, Barns said. So far, about $6,000 in private contributions has been committed to the project.
Anyone interested in donating toward completion of a new show arena at the fairgrounds may contact Barns directly, she said.
