A repeat sexual offender was sentenced to a decade in prison and labeled a sexual offender as part of recent hearings conducted in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Wayne E. Jacobs, 47, at large, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and tagged a Tier III sexual offender for one count of rape, a first-degree felony. He must register his address with law enforcement every 90 days for the rest of his life upon his release from prison.
The defendant will remain under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority for five years upon his release from prison.
He was convicted of sexual conduct with a Bellefontaine woman who was physically and/or mentally impaired at the time.
The defendant has been twice previously convicted of sexually oriented offenses. His first conviction came in 1991 when he served prison time for a felonious sexual offense, and was also found guilty of sexual battery in 2004. Jacobs was among five defendants indicted last November for charges involving sexual abuse.
