Forest W. Robinson, 23, of West Mansfield, was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and lodged on weapons charges after a 2:45 a.m. traffic stop Sunday.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department recovered a .38-caliber revolver and a 9mm handgun after he was stopped for a variety of traffic offenses in the 500 block of south Main Street. The loaded handgun was holstered inside the waistband of Robinson’s pants while the revolver, loaded with three rounds, was tucked between the driver’s seat and center console.
He was ordered out of the car and the pistol was removed without incident. Officers also found a THC vape pen and a glass pipe with marijuana residue in a pants pocket.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol and he was taken into custody.
During the search of the car, officers found multiple THC vape cartridges, a marijuana grinder, two empty single-shot bottles of liquor and two more unloaded handguns in the trunk.
Robinson submitted a breathalyzer sample of 0.20 and urine for laboratory analysis.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail for a felony count of improper handling of firearms and having weapons under disability.
In addition to the OVI charge, Robinson was issued traffic citations for a stop sign violation; squealing tires; and failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road.
