William C. Rose, 25, of 3592 S. County Road 5, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and issued a traffic citation for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
An officer of the Bellefontaine on patrol observed a car traveling northbound in the 100 block of north Detroit Street around 1:05 a.m. near the police department offices in the Bellefontaine Municipal Building.
A traffic stop was initiated in the city parking lot outside the building. Upon contact with Rose, the officer detected an odor of alcohol while the motorist was in the car and again when he exited as directed by the officer.
Rose also swayed as he stood talking with the officer.
An initial field sobriety test indicated Rose was impaired by alcohol and he declined to continue with the tests. He also refused to provide a breathalyzer sample.
A passenger in the car, Shelby Christian, 24, of Kenton, was issued a summons for having a container of alcohol in a vehicle. Two open cans of alcoholic beverage were found on the floor board of the front passenger area where she was seated at the time of the stop.
She claimed both cans were hers.
Both Rose and Christian were released to his mother.
Woman faces menacing charge
Cheyenne J. McCants, 21, of Springfield, was charged Sunday with aggravated menacing after she allegedly threatened to kill another woman during a child custody exchanged around 2:45 p.m. at McDonalds, 1127 N. Main St. She was issued a summons after meeting with officers.
Mark on victim’s neck leads to charge
Jammie M. Lopez, 29, of 520 W. Patterson Ave., was arrested Sunday for domestic violence after she reportedly choked Derrick S. Blythe, of the same address, during an argument.
Officers responded to the residence around 5:30 p.m. and spoke with both. Blythe, who was attempting to move out after a six-year relationship, had visible redness on his neck, officers report.
The incident report noted there have been multiple domestic disputes documented in the department’s report system.
Lopez was lodged in jail.
