Julie A. Hoberty, 55, of 708 N. Main St., was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after an 11 40 a.m. crash Saturday. She also was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
She was westbound on Sandusky Avenue and hit the rear of a van operated by Zachariah W. Yoder, 32, of Marysville, who was stopped for traffic light at Madriver Street.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department detected and odor of alcohol while talking with Hoberty and learned from witnesses she had been erratic behind the wheel for several blocks. They reported she nearly crashed into other vehicles at Hyland Hills shopping plaza, 878 E. Sandusky Ave., and struck a pole in the lot.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired and her breathlyzer sample was 0.086.
• Michael G. Kossel, 24, of 320 N. Troy Road, was cited for no driver’s license, driving under suspension, reckless operation, no headlights and failure to control after he wrecked a dirtbike motorcycle in the 600 block of Lawrence Street around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
He claimed he was struck by a pickup truck but the responding officer, who was stopping Kossel for riding a vehicle at night with no headlights and speeding, did not find evidence of a collision.
Gaming systems stolen
Amanda S. Coleman and William T. Dotson, 868 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 134, reported Sunday the theft of a video game system and controllers. Officers are investigating.
Warrants served in disturbance check
Tremayne A. Coleman, 19, of Findlay, was arrested Sunday after officers responded to 812 Heritage Court on a reported domestic disturbance outside around 9:50 p.m.
He was served Logan County warrants for having weapons under disability, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine, illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse into a jail and a Findlay warrant for failure to appear. He also was charged with possession of marijuana.
Coleman was found in the driver’s seat of a car with others and he tried to exit the vehicle to use a restroom. Officers detected an odor of raw marijuana and ran background checks on all of the car occupants.
Warrants for Coleman’s arrest were valid and he was arrested. A probable cause search of the car found a plastic bag with marijuana under the driver’s seat.
