A Maria Stein woman was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment after a her southbound car hit a parked pickup truck on Main Street near Powell Avenue around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Jill R. Albers, 42, did not sustain an apparent injuries but they suspect she was impaired by drugs.
She was conscious sitting behind the wheel of the car but had no idea she had crashed her car, they report. She was instructed to shut off the car, unbuckle herself and exit the vehicle.
Officers report she seemed unsure how to shut of the engine and tried to exit without unbuckling herself. She had poor balance and was seated on a curb to wait for the squad.
At the hospital, officers observed other indicators Albers was impaired by drugs. She claimed there were no drugs in her system but said she had recently acquired more sleeping pills.
She told officers she was on her way home from a second-shift factory job and thought she was in Maria Stein.
Officers obtained a waiver from her to have access to hospital records including analysis of a urine sample.
Albers was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs and issued a traffic citation for failure to control.
Her car sustained heavy damage while the legally parked pickup registered to Jonathan Hayduk of Bellefontaine. sustained minor damage.
