Michael M. Futrell, 25, of 12264 State Route 720, Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a 2:40 a.m. traffic stop on Sandusky Avenue near School Street.
He also was issued traffic citations for marked lanes violations and an improper turn at an intersection.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department was patrolling on Columbus Avenue near Detroit Street and observed Futrell rapidly back a car from a parking stall and accelerating hard westbound, crossing completely into the eastbound lane once past Detroit.
The officer turned his cruiser and caught up with Futrell as he turned northbound onto Everett Street traveling into the southbound lane before completing the turn. Futrell reportedly made another improper turn onto westbound Sandusky and the officer observed more lane violations before initiating a traffic stop.
Upon contact, the officer detected an odor of alcohol while speaking with the motorist.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol and he provided breathalyzer sample of 0.175. He was released to a sober relative.
