Lee M. Yelton, 29, of 429 W. Brown Ave., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control after his northbound pickup truck hit a curb in the 400 block of north Main Street around 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
An off-duty Logan County Sheriff’s employee observed the crash and reported the pickup with a damaged front tire and rim was parked in the 100 block of east Williams Avenue.
The defendant exited the pickup and tried to walk away when an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived. He complied with orders to stop and turn back to the officer.
He reportedly staggered and steadied himself on the pickup truck. The officer detected an odor of alcohol about the motorist.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was under the influence of alcohol.
He declined to provide a breathalyzer sample.
Officers noted he has a prior OVI conviction.
Loud music results in charge
Terry A. Webb, 51, of 415 Garfield Ave., Apt. C, was charged Monday with disturbing the peace.
On two occasions at 11 p.m. Sunday and 1:55 a.m. Monday, officers were called to the residence and heard loud music coming from the defendant’s residence.
He was warned the first time and charged the second.
Bicyclist cited in crash
Adam R. Suever, 39, at large, was cited for reckless operation after he rode a bicycle down a steep embankment and into the side of a sport utility vehicle around 3:10 p.m. Monday on Lafayette Street behind 828 N. Main St.
A Bellefontaine squad responded, but there were no injuries listed on the crash report.
Damage was heavy to the bicycle and light to the SUV operated by Amy Fahnestock, 35, of West Liberty.
