Ryan R. Ross, 27, of Woodstock, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and misdemeanor possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia. He also was issued traffic citations for driving with one headlight, a marked lanes violation and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department was on patrol in the 1600 block of south Main Street around 1:30 a.m. and spotted a northbound car with one headlight. He pulled behind the car and began to follow, noting there was no license plate illumination.
He reports the motorist drifted to the left and continued traveling on top of the yellow lane markings for the center turn lane.
When asked about contraband, Ross handed over a pipe with burnt marijuana residue. A probable cause search found open beer bottles including one that was a quarter full.
Field sobriety tests indicated Ross was impaired and he provided a breathalyzer sample of 0.173.
Owner cited for loose dog
William M. Dolan III, 26, of 405 Seymour St., was issued a summons for having a dog at large Monday after his hound dog ran off around 4:45 p.m.
It reportedly growled at a neighbor and the neighbor’s dogs.
Police take theft reports
Officers are investigating a theft and property damage complaint filed Monday by employees of Super 8 Motel, 1117 N. Main St.
A named male suspect had stayed four nights in a room but was not seen since Sunday. A housekeeper found a heating/air conditioning unit had been removed from the wall and disassembled.
Officers report it appears the suspect was scrapping parts from the unit.
• Robert Siegenthaler, 445 West St., reported Sunday he found someone broke into his tractor trailer rig and stole electronic equipement while the vehicle was parked at 1370 N. Main St.
