MARYSVILLE — A motorcyclist who sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash about 7 p.m. Thursday in Jerome Township has died.
Salil Nair, 44, of Powell, was taken by Jerome Township EMS to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, where he died Friday evening, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Reports indicate Mr. Nair was southbound on U.S. Route 42 when the motorcycle he was operating went left of center and struck a northbound pickup truck driven by Rick Cramer, 48, of Marengo.
Mr. Cramer, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Although a helmet was found at the scene, troopers have yet to determine if the victim was wearing it at the time of the crash.
Troopers were assisted by the Jerome Township Fire Department.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
It is the third fatal crash in Union County this year.
