Albert F. Leffew, 60, of Sidney, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident Sunday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 5:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of south U.S. Route 68 reportedly observed his northbound 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycles quickly apply its brakes, causing the tires to squeal.
The motorcycle operator conducted a U-turn in the driveway of 5534 S. U.S. 68, and pulled into the path of a southbound Honda Accord, nearly causing an accident, deputies said.
A traffic stop was conducted and Leffew admitted to consuming alcohol beverages. Deputies said he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
The defendant consented to standardized field sobriety tests and failed the tests. Based upon the totality of the circumstances, Leffew was arrested for OVI.
At the jail, he consented to the chemical urine test, with results pending. He also was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.
Hit-skip driver strikes cable lines on Collingwood Ave.
Deputies are investigating a hit-skip crash involving a vehicle that struck Spectrum cable lines Friday evening along Collingwood Avenue in Stokes Township.
Deputies report the vehicle operated by an unknown driver removed the cable lines from residences at 14078, 14128, 14136 and 14242 Collingwood Ave. about 6:10 p.m. and then left the scene.
• Kristopher S. French, 25, of Marysville, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash about 5:20 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies report he was operating a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Corvette on County Road 10 near U.S. Route 33 when he failed to control and went off the right side of the roadway.
Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene. The driver and his passenger were wearing their seat belts.
Theft from vehicle reported
Deputies responded to 3095 Water St., Zanesfield, Sunday on a report of a theft from a motor vehicle.
A resident told deputies an unknown subject had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime Friday night or Saturday morning. Her book bag was missing, along with her wallet containing credit cards.
