Neighbor incident results in arrest
Jerry W. Thomas, 63, of 7225 State Route 368, lot 35, Huntsville, was charged with assault related to an incident Sunday evening.
Deputies responded about 8 p.m. to Moundwood Resort Estates, lot 36, Huntsville, in reference to an assault complaint.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with a 41-year-old woman who said her neighbor and also manager of the trailer park, Thomas, had yelled at her grandson and another boy for riding their bicycles too fast in the park.
The woman reportedly confronted Thomas about yelling at the children and she said he began using profanity toward her. She said Thomas’ wife then arrived and also began using profanity toward her. Thomas then stood between the two women and Thomas allegedly grabbed the 41-year-old woman and left red marks on her chest, the woman told deputies. A neighbor also said he observed Thomas grab the victim hard enough to “snap her head backwards.”
Thomas told deputies that he had observed the children riding their bicycles and nearly having an accident, so he asked them to slow down. During the confrontation, he said his neighbor was yelling profanity at he and his wife. He said he stepped between the neighbor and his wife and stated he put his hands on the neighbor’s shoulders and she shoved him away.
Thomas was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail. A report also has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges against the 41-year-old woman as well.
