Beverly J. McKinley, 77, of 160 Lakewood Drive, Apt. 32, was charged Sunday with domestic violence. Hours later, her victim was arrested and lodged, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Around 2:15 p.m., she was at her son’s residence at 121 E. Brown Ave. to give him money for rent. Dallas C. McKinley was slightly intoxicated and began to curse.
His mother told police she couldn’t take it anymore and slapped him.
She was issued a summons and was escorted home.
Later, around 8:20 p.m., police were called back to the 121 E. Brown Ave. residence. The 40-year-old son had continued to consume alcohol despite warnings from police to stop.
He was outside his residence causing a disturbance and refused to go inside.
Officers arrested him for persistent disorderly conduct and lodged him in jail.
• Kenneth W. Taylor, 81, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 34, was charged Sunday with domestic violence. Around 8:30 p.m., he argued with his estranged wife, Shirley, who lives in a nearby trailer.
The victim and two witnesses allege the suspect grabbed her and pushed her into a kitchen cabinet.
He was issued a summons.
Motorist charged with OVI
Brandon J. Bailey, 28, of 208 Terrence Drive, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a 1:20 a.m. traffic stop Sunday. He was cited for driving under suspension from a previous OVI conviction and for failure to reinstate his driving privileges and failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road.
An officer on patrol observed him northbound in the 500 block of south Main Street driving across lane markings. As the motorist continued eastbound on Auburn Avenue, he nearly hit a parked vehicle before nearly veering off the street.
The officer tried to initiate a stop, but the motorist continued to the driveway of 416 E. Chillicothe Ave. The officer talked with him and detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver.
The motorist refused to submit to any tests.
Thieves target homes
Brandon Barker, Nicole Gates and Josh Brenner, all of 417 Lawrence St., reported Saturday someone entered the residence and stole a video game system and cash.
Mr. Barker returned home around 12:30 a.m. to discover the theft.
• Gregory D. and Melinda Price, 729 Eastern Ave., reported Friday someone entered their home and stole cash and a video game system while they were at work.
Two face paraphernalia charges
Nicholas A. Taylor, 21, of 9118 Hickory Lane, Huntsville, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, while a passenger, Devyn R. Comer, 22, of 4000 Alpine Parkway, Lot W1, Valley Hi, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop around 9 a.m. Saturday.
An officer on patrol observed Mr. Taylor driving at 40 mph in a 25-mph zone in the 600 block of Ludlow Road.
A pipe was recovered from Mr. Comer and a bag of marijuana and a bong were found in Mr. Taylor’s car.
