Monroe Hochstetler, 84, of Huntsville, entered into eternal rest Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2016, at his home, from an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Nappanee, Ind.,on Sept. 12, 1931, to the late Daniel and Lovina Hochstetler. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church and lived in Holy Matrimony with his wife Mary Ellen Slabaugh Hochstetler for 58 years until she preceded him in death Dec. 19, 2009.
Survivors include his second wife, Lena Troyer Yoder Hochstetler, whom he married Jan. 15, 2011, and his 13 children, Iva Mae (Joseph) Wagler of Mayslick, Ky., Glen (Polly Anna Miller) Hochstetler of Gold Creek, Mont., Daniel (Fern Mast) Hochstetler, Eddie (Irene Miller) Hochstetler and Joseph (Sara Mae Eicher) Hochstetler, all of Millersburg, Samuel (Susie Raber) Hochstetler of Worthington, Ind., David (Miriam Troyer) Hochstetler, Edna (Milton) Troyer and Jerry (Rhoda Miller) Hochstetler, all of Belle Center, John (Mary Miller) Hochstetler of Howe, Ind., Barbara (Nathan) Lehman and Susan (John) Lehman, both of Flat Rock, Ill.,and Rose Mary (Jonathan) Yoder of Maryville, Mo.; five siblings, Anna Mae Burkholder and Linda Slabaugh, both of Nappanee, Ind., Esther Hochstetler of Ava, Ill., Gerald Hochstetler of Marion, Mich., and Leroy Hochstetler of Bremen, Ind.; stepchildren, Joseph, Levi, Orpha, Rebecca, Miriam, Paul, Daniel, David, Aaron, Rachel and Anna.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Mahlon Coblentz residence, 7443 County Road 49, Belle Center, residence, where Bishop Jerald Bontrager officiates the funeral service beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Private family burial is in Worthington Church Cemetery, Worthington, Ind.
