Javory D. Stookey, 36, of Marysville, was charged Saturday with felony possession of drugs and identity fraud and served a warrant for failure to appear. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol in the 900 block of south Detroit Street reported Stookey was walking northbound on the west side of the street around 2:45 a.m. Stookey was hard to see so the officer activated his headlights. The defendant shined a flashlight into the officer’s eyes as he drove southbound.
The officer turned his cruiser around and made contact with Stookey, who provided false identity information to the officer. When he provided correct information, the officer learned the suspect was wanted on warrants in Champaign and Union counties.
Several containers with methamphetamine were found in Stookey’s fanny pack along with paraphernalia for abusing the drug. A small amount of marijuana and a pipe also were seized by officers.
Stookey was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
