MARYSVILLE — Jeremiah Johnson, 38, of Marysville, was found dead Saturday afternoon in a creek near Scottslawn Road in the city.
Deputies of the Union County Sheriff’s Office found the body about 3 p.m., according to various published reports.
Authorities began searching for Mr. Johnson after his girlfriend called earlier in the day to report he had been missing since about 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
The couple reportedly got into an argument while she was driving home and Mr. Johnson exited the car. The woman then drove to the next intersection and turned around to find her boyfriend, but couldn’t locate him.
She drove home and returned later, but still couldn’t find Mr. Johnson.
There were no signs of violence in connection with the death, law enforcement said.
An autopsy will be performed by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
