Mary M. Reed, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away March 15, 2016, at Logan Acres Senior Community.
Mary was born in Lakeview on May 17, 1924, to the late Frank G. and Mary Elizabeth Wooley Kennedy.
On Dec. 8, 1942, she married Gaylord “Sunny” Reed in Lakeview and he preceded her in death May 14, 1996. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kayleen McElfresh; a son, Barney Reed; a brother, Carl D. Kennedy; a sister, Eloise Schultz; and a half-sister, Kathryn Wilezck.
She is also survived by two daughters, Mary (Bud) Bailey and Vena (Norman) Chambers, both of Bellefontaine; a son, Gayle (Bonnie) Reed of Huntsville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Ammons of West Liberty; and a brother, Robert L. Kennedy of Tucson, Ariz.
A 1942 graduate of Stokes Local Schools, Mary worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Indian Lake Manor. She was a member of the Huntsville Presbyterian Church and Indian Lake Community Church.
Mary enjoyed sewing and square dancing, but her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family.
Pastors Jim Ellington and Karen Blackburn lead a funeral at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Indian Lake Community Church, Russells Point, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Logan County Cancer Society.
