Shannon H. Murphy, 41, of Columbus, was arrested at 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, on a Franklin County felony warrant for aggravated possession of drugs and charged with felony possession of drugs and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug abuse instruments.
Officers were called to 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 66, on a report of unwanted guests. Tonya Roark told officers she wanted Murphy and Kelly Ann Abram removed from her residence and gave officers permission to enter.
Murphy was confronted in a hallway and taken into custody on the warrant.
Straws containing white powdery substances were found in his wallet and behind one of his ears. Three pieces of folded paper were found in the wallet, each containing white powder.
Murphy told officers the substance was fentanyl.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail on the warrant.
Woman, pet dog bitten while on walk
Taylor D. Stevens and her dog sustained wounds Monday, Sept. 19, after a loose dog attacked them while walking near their north Madriver Street home.
She sustained puncture wounds to her right hand and right forearm while her miniature goldendoodle was bitten in the hindquarters, back legs and belly.
Several neighborhood men responded to the 7:50 p.m. attack and were able to get the attacking dog off of Stevens and her pet.
She told officers she would seek medical attention for herself and her dog.
Aaron R. Topping, 39, of 112 E. Williams Ave., acknowledged his dog was responsible and he was issued a summons for having a dog at large.
He was advised to quarantine the dog for 10 days.
Alabamans taken into custody
Denver C. Moore, 31, and Stacy Allen Moore, 30, both of Deatsville, Ala., were arrested Saturday, Sept. 17, after officers checked on a trio loitering in the parking lot of Walmart, 2281 S. Main St.
Denver Moore was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest while Stacy was charged with obstructing official business.
A third man in the sport utility vehicle cooperated with officers and was released from the scene.
One officer responded at 2:30 p.m. after a complaint from witnesses of men in an SUV staring at women as they walked to and from the store.
The elder Moore was in the driver’s seat when first confronted. The officer gathered information from the trio and returned to his cruiser to confirm their identities and check for warrants.
The younger Moore got out of the rear passenger area and began walking away. He ignored orders to return.
The driver also got out and walked around the SUV. The officer called for backup as he moved to stop Denver Moore from walking off.
A struggle ensued as the officer attempted to place handcuffs on the driver. The driver was taken to the ground and a bystander, Kenya Sales, stepped in to help.
Together, the officer and Sayles were able to handcuff the driver.
Other officers arrived and proceeded inside the store where they located the younger Moore. He was taken into custody without incident.
Both were lodged in jail.
Man faces domestic charge
Hilbert E. Hassell Jr., 30, of 564 Eastern Ave., was charged Thursday, Sept. 15, with domestic violence.
He allegedly slapped Shallatika Vickers outside her 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. C7, residence during an 11:25 a.m. argument about their children. He also allegedly took her cellular phone and threw it on a lawn.
He was lodged in jail.
Unwanted guest arrested
Branden A.J. Davis, 24, of 136 Bristle Circle, Russells Point, was charged Thursday, Sept. 15, with public intoxication.
Officers arrived shortly before 9 p.m. at Brookstone Apartments, 500 Gunntown Road, shortly before 9 p.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance. As they pulled up, Davis took off running.
He was soon stopped and taken into custody.
A female resident of the complex told officers the suspect was at her apartment drinking and began to argue with her. She pushed him away and no longer wanted him at the residence.
• Lindsey T. Cade III, 54, of 881 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 105, was charged Friday, Sept. 16, with criminal trespass and having an open container of alcohol.
At 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of a man drinking a can of beer in the lot of Speedway, 600 E. Sandusky Ave. Officer located Cade across the street on a bicycle.
He admitted pouring beer from the can into a water bottle on the bicycle.
The defendant had previously been told he was no longer welcome at Speedway which led officers to charge him.
The beer was poured out and Cade was issued summonses.
Uncooperative patient lodged
Jakob C. Yule, 25, of 113 Powers St., was charged Sunday, Sept. 18, with persistent disorderly conduct.
Officers responded to a report of a man acting strangely in the 500 block of east Chillicothe Avenue. They met with Yule at 12:50 p.m. and he agreed to go to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.
By 2:20 p.m., Yule was uncooperative with hospital staff and then with officers who responded to the emergency room department.
He was transported to jail.
Man on mini-bike cited in hit-skip crash
Cody L. Cloninger, 30, of 417 Garfield Ave., was issued traffic citations after he rode a mini-bike into a car on Brown Avenue at Detroit Street around 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
He was northbound on Detroit and ran wide as he turned eastbound on Brown. He struck the passenger side of a westbound car operated by Maycie Maddox, 24, of Bellefontaine.
Officers found him and the mini-bike at Dollar General, 308 N. Main St.
Cloninger was cited for failure to stop after a crash; no operator’s license; driving under suspension; failure to control; and prohibited operation of an off-road vehicle.
