David L. Stephenson, 33, of 504 Woodview Drive, was charged Tuesday with domestic violence.
Officers were called to the residence at 10:30 p.m. and spoke with Ashley Defibaugh at a neighbor’s house. She told officers there had been an altercation and Stephenson now has her 9mm handgun.
According to Defibaugh, she was preparing to move Stephenson from the residence and transport him to Lima. He decided he did not want to leave and became angry when Defibaugh announced she was leaving with her children. He allegedly pushed her, striking her in the mouth with the same motion.
He also took her cellular phone and computer and broke the items before leaving the residence with the gun.
He was apprehended riding a bicycle in the area of Eastern Avenue and Hayes Street.
No gun was found on the defendant and he told officers he never had the gun.
Officers, at this point, do not believe a gun was part of Tuesday’s incident. However, they did contacted the local Adult Parole Authority as Stephenson is a convicted felon on parole.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Melissa D. Ward, 48, of 120 S. Troy Road, was served a 2014 warrant for failure to appear on a charge of aggravated menacing.
