Chad A. Johns, 45, of Sidney, was charged with menacing by stalking, aggravated menacing, domestic violence, aggravated trespass and domestic violence relating to an incident Sunday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 5:45 p.m. to a residence in the 5700 block of Township Road 95, Huntsville, on a report of a man who drove into the driveway and threatened to kill the resident, along with Johns’ ex-wife who was at the address at that time as well.
Upon arrival, the caller told deputies that when Johns stopped in his driveway, the defendant reportedly was holding a knife. After making threats, Johns reportedly left the property, driving southbound toward State Route 274.
Johns’ ex-wife provided deputies with a similar story, and stated that she had taken her juvenile children inside to get away from the situation. She said he also was making threatening statements toward her.
His ex-wife said she had picked up their son from Johns earlier in the day in Sidney, and she was suspicious that he had been following her because he had no reason to know that she was at the T.R. 95 residence.
Deputies located the defendant traveling in the area of S.R. 274 and State Route 235 and initiated a traffic stop.
Johns told deputies he happened to be driving in the area and saw a vehicle matching his ex-wife’s car. He said he didn’t like the person she was dating and didn’t want his children around the man, so he stopped at the residence.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a multi-tool that contained a knife blade. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Domestic violence charges filed
Jerry L. Jackson, 49, of Dayton, was charged with a felony count of domestic violence Friday evening following an incident at Lakeside RV Park, 11348 N. S.R. 235, Lakeview.
Deputies were dispatched to the RV park about 11:15 p.m. for another call for service, and while at the property, they observed a woman in a golf cart who was visibly upset and crying and stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her.
She said Jackson had punched her in the face and deputies observed visible injuries to her left eye and that her left ear was bloody. She also had swelling on the back of her head. The woman received medical treatment on the scene from EMS personnel.
Jackson was located on the campgrounds and he was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail. Deputies stated he has two prior domestic violence convictions.
• Andrew J. Solt, 46, of Findlay, was charged with assault and domestic violence Saturday during a incident at Welcome Woods RV Campground, 7547 State Route 366, Russells Point.
Deputies responded to lot B41 about 11:20 p.m. on a report of a woman who said her boyfriend, Solt, had shoved her to the ground.
Solt told deputies that his girlfriend fell as she was walking out of the camper.
However, witnesses provided deputies with statements regarding a verbal argument and then said the girlfriend “went flying” out of the camper into a deck table, likely as the result of someone pushing her, not simply falling down.
Solt was placed under arrest and was transported to the jail.
• Brenda K. Baker, 32, of Urbana, was charged with domestic violence after deputies responded to a 911 call Sunday evening involving a rolling domestic dispute along south U.S. Route 68 near Tracemore Lane.
Deputies were dispatched to the area about 7:50 p.m. after the driver Tad Lowe, 49, of Cable, reported that Baker was throwing alcoholic beverages at him while he was trying to drive. He stated he pulled his vehicle over so that Baker wouldn’t cause him to crash.
Lowe told deputies on the scene that he had picked up Baker in Bellefontaine because she had been drinking.
Deputies said Lowe also submitted to field sobriety testing, and no clues of impairment were observed.
Baker was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail.
