William H. Jervis, 69, of 173 Timber Trace, Zanesfield, was arrested Wednesday for a felony count of intimidation of a witness.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Logan County Children’s Services, 1855 W. State Route 47, to investigate a menacing complaint.
Deputies met with several Logan County Children’s Services personnel, who stated there is an ongoing child custody case involving Jervis and his son, with a final court hearing that took place Tuesday, but a final ruling had not yet taken place.
The LCCS personnel stated that several LCCS staff members and several others involved with the case had received a threatening e-mail from Jervis Wednesday that contained various digital images of individuals involved in the case. The e-mail also reportedly contained a desktop name plate “Death Penalty” pictured with a gavel and handcuffs.
The caption reportedly read, “A bullet or electricity — what way sounds more painful?” and the image also contained the words “Stealing your son for 8 plus years” across the death penalty image.
The e-mail recipients told deputies that they were concerned for their safety and well-being.
Deputies said Jervis arrived at the LCCS facility later in the day for a scheduled supervised visitation. At that time, deputies were able to place him under arrest about 4:40 p.m. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
