Joel E. Spatz, 23, of 2628 Township Road 179, Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident at his residence Wednesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to his address about 7:45 p.m. on a report from a caller who said that Spatz had a knife.
When deputies arrived, Spatz was located in his bedroom and during a search of his person, deputies did not find the knife.
Family members said Spatz and his brother had been arguing that day and that the defendant had shoved his father to the ground. He then reportedly ran to the kitchen and grabbed the knife and slid it into his pocket. Family members said Spatz later went back to the kitchen and disposed of the knife somewhere.
No physical injuries were reported to any of the family members. Spatz was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
