Charles Manahan, 32, of 1530 County Road 1, Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident at a Belle Center area residence Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 10 a.m. to 7598 County Road 98 on a report of a domestic disturbance. The female caller said she would meet deputies near the Bickham Bridge on County Road 38.
Upon arrival at the bridge, the woman informed deputies that Manahan was her former live-in boyfriend and he had moved out in December. She said he visited her at the residence Monday and that they argued for most of the day. She said when she awoke Tuesday, he was still there, and he became angry during a discussion of former vacation plans.
She said she asked him to leave the property, and while they were outside, she locked him out of her residence. However, she related that the defendant “kicked in” the door, so she left her house out the back door and fled to the bridge.
Deputies observed significant damage to the door. Manahan told deputies that he “bumped the door with his hip” and denied kicking it in.
The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail. Deputies also seized a handgun from his vehicle at the instruction of the Bellefontaine Municipal Prosecutor and placed it into evidence.
Driver cited in U.S. 68, 33 crash
Nancy J. Shreves, 64, of Sidney, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead relating to a non-injury crash about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies report she was operating a westbound 2019 Toyota Highlander on the U.S. Route 33 exit ramp to U.S. Route 68. Her vehicle struck the rear of a westbound 2018 Dodge Ram operated by William L. Harvey, 79, of Zanesfield, that was posted at the stop sign at the intersection.
Damage was light to both vehicles and the drivers were wearing their seat belts.
