David A. Dickinson, 33, of 309 N. Elm St., Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence as a result of an incident early Friday morning at 4000 Alpine Parkway, lot T1, Zanesfield.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the address about 2:35 a.m. in reference to a domestic dispute.
Deputies spoke with Dickinson’s girlfriend inside the home, and she had obvious injuries to her face, including bruising and swelling to her right eye, the bridge of her nose and her right temple, and her entire face was red, deputies said. Her shirt also reportedly was ripped and she had a red mark on her neck.
She told deputies that she and Dickinson had been arguing and that he had been drinking that evening. She said he punched her in the head several times and then held his hand over her mouth and nose to prevent her from breathing. His girlfriend said he also hit her head against the floor several times.
The girlfriend said she was able to go to a neighbor’s residence for help. Deputies also obtained a statement from the neighbor.
The victim was transported by squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for further treatment.
While speaking with Dickinson, he told deputies he struck his girlfriend after she allegedly put her hands on him and came at him with a knife. Deputies observed a scratch mark on the front of his neck. He was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
20-year-old charged with OVI
Brendon T. Lane, 20, of 10047 County Road 11, DeGraff, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and OVI under 21 as a result of a traffic stop Thursday evening in DeGraff.
Deputies on patrol about 10:10 p.m. in the area of Miami and Koke streets observed Lane operating a vehicle without his headlights activated and initiated the stop. While speaking with Lane, deputies noticed that he displayed signs of intoxication.
He told deputies he had consumed two to three beers within one to two hours. Lane completed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a chemical test, with a result of 0.168 blood alcohol content. He also was cited for a headlight violation and was released to a family friend.
Summonses issued related to March 10 injury crash
Brian O. Hicks, 41, of Kenton, and Jill M. Brunke, 42, of 301 Lawrence, Bellefontaine, each were issued summonses for possession of marijuana Thursday related to investigation to a March 10 injury crash at 3329 E. State Route 47.
Hicks also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
In the previously reported crash, Michael Sadler, 61, of Bellefontaine, was operating the eastbound SUV on S.R. 47 between Township Road 230 and County Road 25 when he drove left of center and struck a westbound pickup operated by Hicks in a head-on collision.
Brian Hicks, was transported by Perry Township EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, and his passenger, Brunke, was transported by Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital. Sadler and his passenger also were hospitalized.
While processing the crash scene, deputies said an odor of marijuana was present in the cab of the pickup. March 12, deputies were able to speak with the owner of the pickup and obtained permission to unlock several toolboxes from the pickup.
Deputies recovered a plastic baggie with suspected marijuana from the lock boxes, along with a glass pipe and a metal pipe.
