Derek J. Blubaugh, 28, of Marion, was arrested Monday after witnesses observed him head butt Mayci M. Miller in the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop, 2001 State Route 540.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived on the scene just before 8 p.m. and met with witnesses and the victim.
Miller was bleeding from her nose and told officers she blacked out after the suspect assaulted her. She had brought Blubaugh to the station so he could catch a ride back to Marion as she no longer wanted to continue their relationship.
While en route to Love’s, Blubaugh turned off the car three times as Miller drove, the victim and passenger Mara Moore told police.
A Bellefontaine squad was called to the scene to check Miller’s injuries.
Blubaugh was lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful restraint.

Michael R. Humble, 41, of Urbana, was charged Friday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was issued a traffic citation for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
His passenger, Andrea Stewart, 38, also of Urbana, was charged with public intoxication.
At 9:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of two intoxicated people leaving Brewfontaine, 211 S. Main St. They got into a silver pickup truck and traveled southbound in an alley east of the business to Auburn Avenue which is one-way eastbound.
Officers observed the pickup westbound at Main Street and initiated a traffic stop.
Humble was instructed to exit the pickup and walk toward a nearby parking lot for field sobriety tests. Those tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol and he was taken into custody.
His breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.213. He was released to a sober driver.
Stewart, who had become sick from drinking too much alcohol, was too drunk to use her cellular phone to call a friend for a ride and was taken to jail for her safety.
