William C. Mollett, 36, of 5478 N. County Road 142, West Mansfield, was charged with assault related to an incident Saturday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a report about 4 p.m. from the mother of a 14-year-old girl, who said Mollett had assaulted her daughter that day at the West Mansfield address.
The girl and her mother met with deputies at the sheriff’s office. The teen told deputies that she had been staying with her grandmother and that Mollett had become upset with her after she “stepped on a pair of shoes.”
The girl said the defendant struck her in the head several times and put his hands around her throat.
While speaking with the girl, deputies noticed a bruised area on her chin and she said she also had a bump on top of her head from where Mollett struck her.
Deputies went to the defendant’s address and spoke with him there. He told deputies that the girl had been disrespectful to him and other adults at the residence and when she continued acting that way, he “restrained her.”
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
