A Bellefontaine man who has admitted to a litany of theft-related charges will spend four years in prison.
Joey Hines, 32, was sentenced Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court for one count grand theft, seven counts theft, one count safecracking and one count forgery.
He was allegedly involved in theft, fencing and other criminal activity with Steven L. Burk, 67, who is currently awaiting trial in the Logan County Jail on theft and drug trafficking charges.
• Dewayne Brown, 32, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, one year operator’s license suspension and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine for possession of drugs.
He was charged Dec. 7 with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence after a traffic stop in the city for driving under suspension.
When asked about illegal drugs, he opened a pack of cigarettes and handed over a small amount of marijuana. Officers learned citizens called into the department reporting the suspect was running red lights prior to the traffic stop so they decided to arrest the suspect.
Prior to entering the Logan County Jail, the suspect admitted he had crack cocaine concealed inside a body cavity. He tried to remove the bag but become uncooperative with authorities.
Officers obtained a search warrant which led the suspect to cooperate.
• Jason Florey, 45, of Mt. Vernon, was sentenced to three years community control and ordered to pay court costs and restitution for identity fraud and deception to obtain a dangerous drug.
He was charged in January 2015 after going to Mary Rutan Hospital’s emergency department where he complained of back pain and provided a false name.
• Hannah Lykins, 23, of Lakeview was sentenced to the Worth Center, three years community control, the probation incentive program and ordered to pay court costs for attempted illegal conveyance of drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility and possession of drugs.
Pleas entered
Lewis Watkins, 45, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to spend 30 days in jail and pay a $125 fine. He was indicted on a felony domestic violence charge for allegedly assaulting Ashley Roberts.
• Kristopher Mathews, 36, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to misuse of a credit card and will be sentenced July 11.
• John Johnson Jr., 20, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to trespass in a habitation and was placed on the prosecutor’s pretrial diversion program.
