Angelo E. Wiggins, 31, of 450 Kristina Drive, Apt. 14E, was charged July 16 with multiple felony drug counts after an officer observed him ride a bicycle from a sidewalk westbound in the eastbound lane of Lake Avenue at Main Street around 11:10 p.m.
The officer stopped to caution him about riding safely. When the officer ran a records check, it revealed Wiggins was wanted on several warrants.
Standing next to Wiggins on the bicycle, the officer advised him to put his bicycle on its stand and step off. He complied but took off running northward on Detroit Street.
Another officer had arrived and both pursued the suspect on foot.
Officers watched as Wiggins tossed a fanny pack as he ran. He continued running a bit further before stopping after officers threatened to use a taser on him.
He began to complain of pain as officers talked with him. He was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
The fanny pack was recovered and it contained two plastic baggies containing cocaine and one containing crack cocaine.
His wallet contained $385.
After treatment at the hospital, he was lodged in jail on two felony counts of trafficking in drugs; two felony counts of possession of drugs; felony tampering with evidence; and misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.

Upon contact, the officer noted Leistritz’s slurred, thick speech; droopy eyelids; and bloodshot eyes. The odor of alcoholic beverages was noticeable, especially when the driver spoke. She was unable to follow instructions and could not produce proof of insurance after extended effort to locate proof in the SUV or on her phone.

He was observed operating a pickup truck on Main Street at Lake Avenue around 2:45 p.m.
The officer who initiated the stop was aware Baumgartner was driving without a license as officers had dealt with him the previous day. He turned westbound on Lake and stopped well past the painted stop bar at Lake and Detroit Street. Once past the intersection, he sped off with the officer following him at 60 mph in the 35-mph zone.
The officer turned on his overhead lights and Baumgartner made an abrupt turn onto northbound Troy Road. He failed to signal and nearly went off the side of the southbound lane. He continued on before pulling off the right side of the road.
Upon contact, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and observed an open can of beer inside the pickup.
