Derrick D. Williams, 35, of 14137 Rosewood Ave., Lakeview, was charged with a felony county of domestic violence related to an incident at his residence Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to his address about 4:10 p.m. in reference to his live-in girlfriend reporting that he had assaulted her and had damaged the residence.
Deputies spoke with his girlfriend, who said she is seven months pregnant. She said he came home from work yelling about locating his wallet. He then reportedly dumped milk all over the kitchen counters and floor. Deputies also observed holes that had been punched in the drywall and a window that had been damaged.
His girlfriend then asked him to leave, and she said Williams retaliated by striking her in the back of the head. She told deputies she had a “knot” in the back of her head, but deputies had trouble seeing it because of her long hair.
He then left the residence in his vehicle, backing up at a high rate of speed, and a young girl reportedly was outside the home and she said she was nearly struck by the vehicle.
The defendant was located at a residence on Basswood Avenue and was placed under arrest. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail and received the felony charge because of previous domestic violence convictions. A charge of reckless operation also will be forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
