Gaven B. Morrison, 24, of 122 N. Park St., Bellefontaine, was charged with assault after a 9:30 p.m. incident at 1074 Heritage Court.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report he was at Erik R. Floyd’s residence to pick up his possessions after a prolonged argument between the two during a day trip to Indian Lake.
Morrison, who was at the residence to retrieve his belongings from the trip, allegedly punched Floyd twice.
Floyd told officers he did not fight back. He sustained visible facial injuries of which officers took photographs as evidence. He was advised to seek medical attention.
Morrison met with officers on Sunday and told them he was merely defending himself as Floyd dropped Morrison’s belongings on the ground after retreiving the items from inside apartment. Morrison claimed Floyd had threatened to hit him with brass knuckles in the past and he feared Floyd was going to use the weapon after dropping Morrison’s possessions.
