A deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office sustained a dislocated shoulder Friday while working with other deputies to investigate a reported fight at Froggy’s at the Lake, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview.
Brady R. Odenweller, 28, of Lima, was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was blocking deputies access to two men who had been arguing but not fighting.
When Odenweller would not allow deputies to pass up a flight of stairs, he was physically restrained for arrest.
He fought back and the deputy was injured in the ensuing struggle. Odenweller was ultimately restrained and arrested while the injure deputy was able to reset his shoulder.
Odenweller was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Couple charged with endangering
Traci L. Rench, 25, of 309 1/2 S. Carlisle St., Quincy, and Charles M.H. Alfrey, 27, of Urbana, each was charged Friday with child endangering.
Deputies were called to the area after witnesses reported the couple’s two-year-old son was nude while outside playing in the street the family’s dog around 10:50 a.m.
Both Rench and Alfrey had been sleeping and acknowledged the boy had been getting out of the residence on his own, usually to go to his grandmother’s house next door.
Deputies investigate hit-skip crash
Deputies are looking into an early morning Saturday crash in which a southbound car hit a road sign along County Road 130 near the intersection with County Road 37. The motorist did not stop but deputies believe the car belongs to a Springfield area woman.
Motorist lodged, passenger injured
Dustin L. Walborn, 43, of 6212 County Road 47, West Liberty, was charged Friday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for failure to control and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
At 10:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 7883 C.R. 47 after a pickup truck overturned in the yard. Emergency personnel were extracting Shannon L. Evans, 44, of Richwood, whose legs were stuck under the pickup.
She was transported by Medflight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.
Walborn was out of the vehicle and cleared of medical treatment by Macochee squad personnel. He was sitting on a tire as he spoke with deputies. They noted an odor of alcohol and that Walborn had defecated himself. He was unsteady on his feet when he stood up and refused to participate in field sobriety tests.
He was arrested and transported to jail. While en route, he repeatedly passed out in the cruiser.
A urine sample was collected for testing.
Driver faces another drug charge
Troy E. Good, 35, of Lima, was charged with possession of methamphetamine after a 3:45 p.m. Sunday traffic stop in the 500 block of Lakeview’s north Main Street.
He was stopped for traveling at 41 mph in a 25-mph zone and made suspicious movements before deputies approached the vehicle. The department’s canine unit walked around the exterior of the car and the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics.
A plastic bag with methamphetamine was found under driver’s seat.
Good also was issued traffic citations for speeding, driving under suspension, failure to reinstate and no operator’s license.
Deputies noted Good was charged on July 1 with possession of methamphetamines after a traffic stop by officers of the Washington Township Police Department.
Driver evades injury in crash
Darrell W. Krieger, 57, of Quincy, was charged Saturday with failure to control and having open containers in a vehicle.
Around 5:45 p.m., he was westbound on County Road 63 and his pickup truck traveled off the north side of the road into a ditch and overturned on to its right side.
Deputies noted many mini bottles of liquor in the cab of the pickup and on the ground outside the open passenger window. Krieger said he keeps the bottles in the pickup for recycling. He was advised to use an appropriate container in the future.
The pickup was heavily damaged in the crash.
Woman arrested after assaulting several, including girl
Louisa I. Munford, 33, of Lima, was charged Saturday with escape, public intoxication and two counts of assault.
She was arrested around 9 p.m. after assaulting multiple people at Froggy’s at the Lake, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview, and was in rear seat of a cruiser when she slipped her handcuffs to reach out the open window to open the door.
She tried to force her way out when a deputy opened the door to secure the handcuffs.
Deputies report Munford pushed one woman into the pool and grabbed the arm of a 6-year-old girl and cursed at the girl.
Munford was lodged in jail.
