One of two brothers who assaulted a corrections officer at the Logan County Jail in early July already has admitted his guilt and been sentenced to prison for his actions.

Eric K. Smith, 26, of Quincy, will spend 18 months in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections for the July 2 incident in which he and his brother, Royce K. Smith, 23, of Marion, attacked corrections officer Lance Minnich at the jail.
Eric Smith already had entered guilty pleas to forgery, receiving stolen property and four counts of theft and was scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court. He agreed to plead guilty to the assault charge and sentencing was combined.
The 18 months will be served consecutive to a prison term he is already serving from Marion County, Judge Mark S. O’Connor said.
Royce Smith is still awaiting hearings in his case.
• Aaron Garrison, 24, of Bellefontaine was sentenced to three years of community control, the probation incentive program and ordered to pay restitution, court costs and attorney fees for theft.
• On July 20, Lacey Grow, 32, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to three years of community control, 80 hours of community service and ordered to pay court costs for possession of cocaine and possession of heroin.
Pleas entered
Three defendants entered pleas Monday and will be sentenced Sept. 6.
• Rebecca Bevington, 42, of Kenton: theft from the elderly.
• Brandon Linebaugh, 29, of Belle Center: disrupting public service and domestic violence.
• Jeffrey LeMaster, 52, of Springfield: receiving stolen property.
