Bellefontaine Intermediate School third-graders and Bellefontaine Elementary School kindergartners recently studied Thanksgiving history through hands-on projects to recreate their own Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Third-graders read Balloons over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. The book tells the story of the man behind the balloons and floats we see in today’s parade. Students also took virtual field trips to the float workshop in New York City, and then built their own balloon floats for the third-grade parade. In addition, nearly 200 kindergartners at Bellefontaine Elementary led a parade through the building last week for first- and second-grade spectators.
