Triad’s volleyball program has a new leader in the face of an enthusiastic and hungry coach as Chris Lowe was approved Wednesday night as the Cardinals’ new volleyball coach.
A 2010 graduate of Bellefontaine, Lowe takes over for former head coach Addie Dixon who stepped down after last season.
“I feel honored to be able to take over Triad’s program,” said Lowe. “It was an opportunity that presented itself and I wanted to take it.
“I want to build a solid foundation and get girls active within the program at young age. Being successful doesn’t come over night and it starts with dedication.”
Lowe has been heavily involved in the sport over the last several years. He was an assistant coach with Indian Lake’s volleyball program from 2012-2015 and has been involved coaching Junior Olympic volleyball and youth camps the past two years. Lowe also played club volleyball at Bowling Green State University for two years.
“The game is changing every year and becoming very strategic,” said Lowe. “I want to bring an open mind and flexibility with different personnel. I also think it’s important to become involved, even off the court, within the community.”
Entering his first head coaching job, Lowe is ready to implement his style of play on the Cardinals next season.
“Offense sells tickets and defense wins championships,” said Lowe. “I’ll live by this quote in anything I do competitively. It’s important to be able to defend ourselves on the court to reach success. With the game changing it’s important to be open to a lot of different ideas. Being innovative is important in becoming successful too.”
