Two real estate agents in Logan County have recently been recognized with awards from the Midwestern Ohio Association of Realtors.
Anita Ricketts, principal broker, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, has been awarded as this year’s Mary Pollock Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, presented to a Realtor member who represents the outstanding attributes of the profession over the course of their career.
The award recognizes Realtors who have made a real commitment to the real estate industry and who have been a licensed real estate agent for at least 20 years.
In addition, Joan Hinterschied, Choice Properties Real Estate in Russells Point, has been named 2022 Rookie of the Year, presented to new Realtors, who have been licensed full-time in the real estate industry for less than two years. It is presented to those who demonstrate their commitment to professionalism and the Code of Ethics, as well as involvement in their community.
The Midwestern Ohio Association of Realtors reports that Ricketts’ real estate career consists of 41 years of setting and reaching goals and accomplishments.
“In the beginning, like most new Realtors, she learned how to work hard and persevere to serve her clients well through difficult markets,” representatives said.
After many sales awards and leadership roles, she obtained her brokers’ license and started her own company.
“Being mindful of the changes in the real estate world and having the heart and soul to continue with a career she loved; Anita not only continued in sales, and added responsibilities as a broker, but also began to teach and train new agents.”
The Mary Pollock Lifetime Achievement Award has a GRI designation from the National Association of Realtors and has served on numerous committees at the state and local level of the Realtor association, including involvement in Ohio Realtors’ Professional Development, Legal Issues and MLS committees.
She also served several terms and was president of the WRIST MLS Board of Directors, and was named the Midwestern Ohio Association of Realtor distinguished Realtor of the Year in 2017.
Additionally, Ricketts currently serves on the Columbus Realtors MLS Board of Directors as Vice Chair and incoming Chair for 2023. She also currently serves on the Columbus Realtors Broker Advisory Council and on the West Central Association of Realtors MLS Committee as well.
Ricketts’ peers have been inspired by her strong work ethic, dedication and kindness.
“Loyal, strong, slow to anger, protective, fair, thoughtful and kind. These character traits have allowed her to succeed in many facets of life and to be steady and sure her in her accomplished real estate career.”
Hinterschied was licensed first in 2020. She continually demonstrates professionalism and adheres to the Code of Ethics in their interactions with other Realtors in her young career.
One nominator wrote, “she has been a joy to work with since she walked into the office.
Joan is always the first to volunteer when help is needed or there is a community event at which to work. She is committed to her community and serves on the Russells Point Village Council.
“Joan goes out of their way to help those in need…from crocheting blankets for veterans to planting a large garden each year specifically for local food bank distribution.
Another nominator wrote, “she is a very positive influence (on all of us)…going as far as leaving notes with happy thoughts on her fellow agents’ desks.”
