Citation issued in crash
A flying insect is reported as the cause of a single-vehicle crash that occurred about 3 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of State Route 245 near Township Road 47 outside West Liberty.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Alyssa Alford, 17, of West Liberty, was eastbound on S.R. 245 when she was stung by bee, which caused her to lose control, and travel off the right side of the road.
Her vehicle struck a culvert before coming to rest in a field.
Alford was not injured. She was cited for failure to control. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.
Drugs recovered from traffic stop
• Suspected marijuana and pills were recovered from the scene of a traffic stop conducted Friday about 4:45 p.m. in the area of State Route 274 and County Road 61.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patron observed a blue pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed, and initiated the stop.
Upon making contact with the motorist, Joseph Aldo, 29, of Bellefontaine officers noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While conducting a consent search of the pickup truck, officers noticed Aldo moving something underneath his clothing in an apparent attempt to conceal something.
A pat down search was conducted, and officers found a black and gray bag in Aldo’s pants that contained a bag marijuana, a blue and white cut straw consistent in the use for snorting pills, and eight yellow pills identified as a scheduled controlled substance.
The suspect was charged with possession of a dangerous drug, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Aldo was also issued a citation for speeding and lodged in Logan County Jail.
Summonses issued following fight
• Two male suspects were issued summonses about 8 p.m. Friday following a physical altercation that occurred at the Indian Head Roadhouse, 509 W. Main St., Russells Point.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department were dispatched to that location on a report of two males engaged in a fist fight.
Responding officers with spoke with Stephen Govine, 28, of West Jefferson, who stated he’d been in a verbal argument with another male, whom he refused to identify. Officers also spoke with several witnesses at the scene who stated the argument had been verbal only.
Later, police received video of the incident showing two males engaged in a fist fight. They returned to the scene and issued disorderly conduct summonses to Govine and John Morrissey, 49, of Kenton.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department, and deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
