URBANA – Champaign County horses had a stellar day on their home track Thursday afternoon during the final day of the Logan County Fair harness racing program.
A 12-race schedule wrapped up this year’s fair program, which was moved to the Champaign County Fairgrounds because of corona virus issues.
Three Champaign County-owned horses earned victories Thursday.
Team L, a horse owned by LeVan Stables of Woodstock along with Rosemary LeVan of Lewistown, won the ninth race of the day, a 3-year-old filly trot. Hank LeVan was the winning driver in a time of 2:00. It was the second win of the week for the LeVan group, which also won a race Wednesday night.
In the third race, Jeff Nisonger drove Essentially J, a horse owned by Brian Roebuck of North Lewisburg and Kenneth Roebuck of Urbana, to a victory in a winning time of 2:08. The win came in a 2-year-old filly trot.
Kimberly Dailey of Mechanicsburg saw her horse Pompatuse of Love take the win in the 10th race, a 2-year-old filly pace. Richard Dingledine was the driver and the winning time was 2:00.
Nisonger was the only driver to pick up multiple wins Thursday. In addition to his victory with Essentially J, he won with Nora Tova in the first race.
Other race winners Thursday included Real Rockin Ravi (Scott Cisco) in the second race, Bruin’s Babe (Cameron McCown) in the fourth race, My Guilty Pleasure (Chris Presley) in the fifth race, Princess Rockette (Charles Bolen) in the sixth race, SSS Mindee (K. Dean Glispie) in the seventh race, Contratto (Ronnie Gillespie) in the eighth race, Sarah’s Surprise (Kyle Ater) in the 11th race and Southern Flight (Larry Finn) in the 12th and final race.
