West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team ended the regular season by helping head coach Darrin Leichty earn his 100th career win in a 74-41 victory over visiting Miami East. The Tigers wrap up the regular season with a 16-6 record.
There was no letup on Saturday as WL-Salem got off to a hot start against Miami East. The Tigers grabbed a 23-14 lead to end the first quarter and were ahead 40-23 at halftime.
WL-Salem used a 16-6 run in the third quarter to stretch its lead to a 56-29 advantage.
Holden Nease fueled the Tiger attack with 22 points, Jack Eggleston and Caleb Siegenthaler each had 11 points and Matthew Loffing and Eli McGill both tallied 10 points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem dropped Miami East 67-38 to finish the season with an 18-4 record. Logan Saylor led the Tiers with 21 points and Owen Johnson had 20 points.
WL-Salem begins Division III tournament play Friday against Bethel at Northmont High School.
