Visiting Lehman Catholic rode the strength of a three-run third inning to beat Riverside 4-0 in a big Northwest Central Conference baseball game Tuesday.
It was the first league loss of the season for the Pirates, who fall to 14-2 overall and 9-1 in the NWCC. Riverside saw its 14-game winning streak end.
Lehman takes over the top spot in the league with a 10-0 NWCC mark. The Cavaliers are 13-1 overall.
After a pair of scoreless innings to begin the game, Lehman used a couple of hits and some Riverside fielding miscues to manufacture three runs in the top of the third.
The Cavaliers tacked on an insurance run in the seventh.
Lehman’s Parker Riley limited the Pirates to three hits.
Dakota Bollinger suffered the loss for the Pirates despite not allowing an earned run. He scattered six hits, struck out seven and walked three in seven innings of work.
